Giant Eagle, Inc.

  • Created Health & Wellness Task Force chaired by EVP & CFO to develop recommendations and a path forward that addresses more preventative approaches to health care with a view towards rewarding healthy behavior.

  • Joined the regional effort sponsored by the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative to adopt and promote the four “cornerstones” of value-driven health care:

                    a. Health Information Technology

                    b. Reporting on Quality

                    c. Reporting on Prices

                    d. Incentives for Quality and Value


  • Began a comprehensive evaluation of current health care offering to employee base and how those choices compare to the   

         objectives outlined in the four cornerstones above.


  • Allocated resources within the company’s three year Strategic Plan to invest in the suggested recommendations from the Health & Wellness Task Force.
